Things To Do Around Brentwood
Whilst your wedding day is the most important part of your experience, it can be worth knowing what there is to do in the local area. If your guests are travelling a few days prior to the day, then they may want to explore the local sights.
The Old Rectory is set within 4 acres of countryside, just outside of Dunton Wayletts and Brentwood. Our venue has 11 en-suite bedrooms available to stay in if your guests need them.
We had our wedding here yesterday and Tina, Craig and the rest of the staff couldn’t have helped any more. Highly recommend this venue! Thank you so much.

Family Friendly Activities
If you are travelling to Brentwood with children, then there are several places to visit that will keep them entertained. The Brentwood Museum was founded in 1977 and has information about what life was like in the town over the years.
For those who like the outdoors, the Thorndon Country Park is an ideal place to go. Dating back to the 15th Century, the park is the starting point for the famous Gruffalo trail aimed at children.
There are also activities available for those of you that love animals. The Imperial Bird of Prey Centre has both indoor and outdoor activities for all the family, including a chance to experience real birds of prey. The centre offers Dove releases for any occasion including weddings, adding a memorable and symbolic meaning to your day. Supported by Leona Lewis, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organisation which cares for an estimated 450 unwanted, sick, or mistreated animals. The sanctuary holds a host of animals including horse, pigs, goats, cats and rabbits.
For those that are looking to discover more about the history and heritage of Brentwood, there are plenty of things to do. The Weald Park Iron Age Fort offers an insight into the area during the Iron Age period. Located in the centre of Brentwood, the Cathedral is a great place to visit to see fantastic examples of architecture and local history. The centre of Brentwood also features the ‘History of the Town’, detailing the history of the location.
